Avoid catastrophic engine failure from a sheared dowel pin in your 2001-2016 GM 6.6L Duramax with the XDP Duramax Crankshaft Pin Kit XD331. From the factory, your Duramax uses a dowel pin on the crankshaft to hold the balancer in place. In both stock and performance applications, these dowel pins are easily sheared causing the balancer to spin on the snout of the crankshaft. When this balancer spins, it can throw off the balance of the engine and create harsh vibrations. Continued operation in these conditions will likely result in serious engine damage such as a broken crankshaft.
