The XDP main studs feature high-quality 8740 Chrome Moly construction that also includes a proprietary element added for upgraded strength and durability.
A tensile strength between 220K psi and 236K psi and a yield strength between 210K psi and 230K psi ensures these studs can handle the increased performance of upgraded applications. In addition, the threads are rolled after heat-treating to deliver optimum fatigue strength.
Upgrading from the OEM main bolts to studs also allows you to obtain a much more accurate torque reading. A bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time. With a stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force.
Furthermore, they provide for easier engine assembly and proper alignment of the main bearing caps every time. These studs are also reusable unlike OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts which must be replaced after each use.
Studs are manufactured in an ISO/TS 16949 quality control facility. Included with the studs are washers and 12-point nuts. Assembly lubricant sold separately.
Features:
- Includes Washers and 12-Point Nuts
- Yield Strength 210K psi - 230K psi

Tech Tips:
XDP Thread Cleaning Chasers (Sold Separately):
The XDP Thread Cleaning Chaser XD40126TC is the perfect add-on to any head stud installation. Using Thread Cleaning Chasers ensures that you are able to properly clean the threads in your engine block before the installation of any studs or fasteners. Clean threads will provide you with accurate torque readings which are critical to your head gasket repair, or engine build.
XDP X-TRA Slick Engine and Fastener Assembly Lubricant (Sold Separately):
The use of XD541 is highly recommended during engine assembly. Apply XDP X-TRA Slick Lubricant to head studs, head bolts, main studs, main bolts, connecting rod bolts, and any other fasteners used during engine assembly. Using a proper assembly lubricant during fastener installation reduces friction and torque pre-load scatter in the torquing sequence, while also helping to prevent thread galling and seizing.
