The factory variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) on the 2007.5–2018 Dodge Ram 6.7L Cummins delivers responsive boost, excellent drivability, and exhaust braking. However, as horsepower demands increase, the factory turbocharger can become restrictive, increasing exhaust drive pressure and exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs).

The DDP Motorsports Hooligan Billet VGT Turbocharger is designed to improve airflow and performance while retaining the factory-style VGT functionality that makes these trucks so versatile.

Featuring a 63mm high-flow billet compressor wheel, 64mm exhaust turbine wheel, upgraded nitrided nozzle ring, and calibrated remanufactured Holset turbo actuator, the Hooligan delivers a performance upgrade without sacrificing everyday drivability.

With appropriate supporting modifications and tuning, this turbocharger can support applications targeting up to approximately 650 rear-wheel horsepower (RWHP).

63mm High-Flow Billet Compressor Wheel

The upgraded 63mm billet compressor wheel provides increased airflow capability compared with the factory configuration, supporting higher horsepower applications while maintaining responsive street performance.

64mm Exhaust Turbine Wheel

The larger 64mm exhaust turbine improves exhaust flow and helps reduce restriction and drive pressure, particularly under higher loads. This can also help manage EGTs in properly configured applications.

Upgraded Nitrided Nozzle Ring

Soot buildup, extreme exhaust temperatures, and wear are common challenges in variable geometry turbochargers. Over time, carbon deposits can restrict VGT vane movement, forcing the actuator to work harder and potentially contributing to premature failure.

The Hooligan features an upgraded nitrided nozzle ring that undergoes a specialized surface-hardening process designed to improve durability, surface hardness, and wear resistance.

Similar to the nitriding treatment used on firearm barrels and other high-wear components, this process creates a hardened, wear-resistant surface rather than simply applying a conventional coating.

The treatment may also help reduce deposit adhesion and soot-related sticking. Although no VGT turbocharger is immune to carbon buildup, the nitrided nozzle ring provides additional protection for a critical VGT component.

Calibrated Remanufactured Holset Turbo Actuator

This Hooligan turbocharger includes a remanufactured Holset VGT actuator that is calibrated to the turbocharger before shipment.

Unlike our upgraded self-calibrating actuator option, this configuration uses a traditional Holset actuator that requires proper calibration. By supplying the turbocharger with the actuator already calibrated, we help simplify installation and eliminate the need for the customer to perform the initial actuator calibration, provided the actuator remains paired with the supplied turbocharger.

Brand-New Turbocharger Construction

The Hooligan turbocharger itself is manufactured using brand-new components rather than remanufactured or rebuilt turbocharger parts.

Please note: The included Holset actuator is remanufactured. The turbocharger assembly itself is brand-new.

Important: Your original OEM turbocharger speed sensor must be reused during installation.

Installation & Important Information

Holset Actuator Calibration

The included remanufactured Holset actuator is calibrated to the supplied turbocharger before shipment.

Do not remove, interchange, or attempt to recalibrate the actuator unless instructed by DDP Motorsports or a qualified technician. If the actuator is removed, replaced, or disturbed, additional calibration may be required.

Follow the supplied installation instructions to ensure proper installation and operation.

Vehicle Tuning

Most supported factory applications do not require additional tuning solely for turbocharger installation. However, 2014–2015 models may experience overboost or underboost codes.

Vehicles with aftermarket tuning or additional performance modifications may require calibration adjustments. Always consult your tuner regarding compatibility before installation.

Required Installation Maintenance

The following procedures are REQUIRED to maintain warranty eligibility:

• Pre-lubricate the turbocharger before initial startup

• Perform an engine oil and oil filter change

• Replace the crankcase ventilation (CCV) filter

Failure to complete these procedures may affect warranty coverage.
