The factory rear shock mounts are sufficient to 2.5″ remote reservoir shocks. Once valving starts to stack up or larger than 2.5″ shocks are installed, the driver’s side upper, rear shock mount’s inability to take a beating should be addressed. Fully Boxed and welded 3/16″ Cold-Rolled Steel Construction ensures the mount is stronger than the cross member to which you’ll be welding it. That said, triangulation of the Carli Driver shock mount/crossmember/frame rail is also recommended.
The passenger side shock mount has always proved sufficient but, removing the bed and prepping for weld is such a process, we designed and fabricated a matching mount to weld in on the passenger side for cheap insurance. This mount requires no additional triangulation or gusseting.
