DDP Motorsports Upgraded Self-Calibrating Turbo Actuator

2007.5–2024 Ram 6.7L Cummins

Inconsistent boost, poor turbo response, or an exhaust brake that no longer works properly can point to a failing turbocharger actuator. The DDP Motorsports Upgraded Self-Calibrating Turbocharger Actuator offers a replacement with a redesigned internal assembly, increased motor torque, upgraded electronics, and a housing built to better manage heat.

With automatic self-calibration, installation is simplified—no separate calibration tool or manual calibration procedure is required.

More Torque. Upgraded Electronics. Better Heat Management.

The actuator controls the turbocharger’s variable-geometry mechanism, adjusting its position to support boost response and exhaust brake operation. Operating next to the turbocharger exposes the actuator to significant heat, making the motor, electronics, and housing important parts of its design.

Our upgraded actuator addresses each of these areas:

  • Stronger, Higher-Torque Motor: Provides more torque than the OEM motor to operate the turbocharger’s variable-geometry mechanism.

  • Upgraded Internal Circuitry: Features redesigned electronics that exceed OEM circuitry specifications.

  • Improved Housing Design: An upgraded cast and machined housing helps dissipate heat, keeping internal components cooler than the OEM design.

  • Automatic Self-Calibration: Calibrates itself during installation, eliminating the need for a separate calibration tool or procedure.

Check the Turbocharger Before Replacing the Actuator

A sticking or binding turbocharger mechanism can overload the actuator and cause it to fail. Replacing the actuator without correcting the underlying turbocharger issue can result in another actuator failure.

An arm that moves freely when the turbocharger is cold does not guarantee that the mechanism operates correctly at operating temperature. As the turbocharger heats up, its internal mechanism may begin to bind, placing additional strain on the actuator.

Diagnostic trouble codes alone do not always distinguish an actuator failure from a mechanical issue inside the turbocharger. Proper diagnosis is essential before installing a replacement.

Actuator failure caused by a sticking or binding turbocharger is NOT covered under the standard 1-year warranty and does NOT qualify for a free replacement. Coverage for this type of failure requires the optional No Questions Asked Replacement Protection described below.

If you have questions about your symptoms, fault codes, or turbocharger condition, contact DDP Motorsports and ask for Clayton before purchasing or installing your actuator.

Installation and Fitment

Fits 2007.5–2024 Ram trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine.

2007.5–2012 applications require an adapter harness, sold separately.

Follow the supplied instructions for the proper installation and self-calibration sequence. Any sticking or binding within the turbocharger must be corrected before installation.

Warranty Coverage & Protection Options

Standard 1-Year Limited Warranty (Included)

Every DDP Self-Calibrating Turbo Actuator includes a 1-year limited warranty covering defects in materials and manufacturing.

This warranty does not cover failures or damage caused by:

  • Improper installation or installer error.

  • Sticking, binding, or malfunctioning turbochargers.

  • Coolant intrusion or contamination.

  • Physical damage, misuse, or other external factors unrelated to a manufacturing defect.

No Questions Asked Replacement Protection — $399.99

For extra peace of mind, add our optional No Questions Asked Replacement Protection for just $399.99.

If your actuator fails or you need a replacement for any reason within one year of your original purchase date, just reach out to us. Send your original actuator back, and as soon as we receive it, we'll ship out your replacement. No questions asked.

This protection is available to the original purchaser only and cannot be transferred.

Why Is This Protection Such a Great Value?

One of the leading causes of VGT actuator failure is a sticking or binding turbocharger. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to determine whether the actuator itself has failed or whether an underlying turbocharger issue caused the failure.

That's where our No Questions Asked Replacement Protection can be an excellent investment.

If you're unsure about the condition of your turbocharger, this protection gives you an additional layer of financial security. Rather than purchasing an entirely new actuator if yours fails again, you've already secured one replacement for just $399.99.

Even better, the cost of our DDP Self-Calibrating Actuator combined with the optional No Questions Asked Replacement Protection is still less than purchasing a genuine OEM replacement actuator.

This makes it an excellent value, especially if you're concerned that an underlying turbocharger issue could cause another actuator failure. Not only are you getting an upgraded actuator, but you're also protecting yourself against the expense of purchasing another one if something goes wrong within the first year.

If you're not financially ready to replace the entire turbocharger assembly, this protection may help reduce your immediate replacement costs while giving you additional financial flexibility to save toward a complete turbocharger replacement.

Think of it as added protection against an expensive surprise. Instead of simply hoping that replacing the actuator fixes the problem permanently, you're giving yourself a backup option if another actuator failure occurs.

Important: This protection does not repair a sticking or failing turbocharger. A replacement actuator may also fail if the underlying turbocharger issue is not corrected. We strongly recommend inspecting and repairing any turbocharger problems as soon as possible.

How Replacement Protection Works

  1. Contact DDP Motorsports within one year of the original purchase date to request a replacement.

  2. Return the original actuator to DDP Motorsports.

  3. Once the original actuator has been received, we will ship your replacement actuator.

Important Warranty Terms

  • Both warranty options are valid for one year from the original purchase date.

  • No Questions Asked Replacement Protection applies exclusively to the original purchaser and is nontransferable.

  • The original actuator must be returned and received before a replacement is shipped.

  • Optional protection includes one replacement per protection purchase, unless otherwise approved by DDP Motorsports.

  • Replacement protection may only be purchased once for the covered actuator, unless otherwise approved by DDP Motorsports.

Our Goal: Give you the confidence to replace your actuator today while offering an affordable backup option if an unexpected failure occurs down the road.
